Repairing the scales at the Sudbury Landfill is going to take a month or two longer than expected.
Repairs that were scheduled to be completed today will now take until September or October, the city announced.
“Rehabilitation work on the Sudbury Landfill scales is progressing,” the city said in a news release.
“Repairs on the first scale have been completed and repairs are currently underway on the second scale. The estimated repair timeline has been extended from July 31 to September/October 2024. These repairs will ensure continued landfill service delivery.”
Until repairs are completed, the landfill will continue to run as a single-scale operation, meaning vehicles coming into and exiting the landfill will be weighed in and out on the same scale.
“Residents can expect longer than usual wait times at the Sudbury Landfill while repairs are taking place,” the release said.

Current traffic volumes at the landfill can be checked in real time by clicking here.
