Warrant issued for federal offender with ties to northern Ont.

Federal offender could be in Simcoe County Police say a federal offender who breached his release could be in Barrie or Midland.

The Ontario parole enforcement squad is looking for a federal offender who is serving a sentence for drug trafficking and was last seen in Sudbury.

A Canada-wide warrant was issued for Cory Peterson, 56, for allegedly breaching his statutory release, the Ontario Provincial Police repeat offender parole enforcement squad said Thursday in a news release.

Peterson had been out of jail for a while and was staying at a community residential facility, OPP Det. Const. Morley McGuire told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in a phone interview.

He is described as five-foot-seven inches tall, 176 pounds, thinning brown hair, a greying goatee and brown eyes.

Peterson has several tattoos:

  • A unicorn and eagle sun on his left arm
  • A skull and "FTW" on his upper right arm
  • A tiger and an eagle head on his right arm
  • A bear on his chest
  • One on the left side of his neck

Peterson is known to frequent Barrie, North Bay, Midland, Blind River and Sault Ste. Marie, as well.

"Anyone having contact with this offender or information in regards to their whereabouts is asked to contact the provincial ROPE squad at 416-808-5900 or toll free at 1-866-870-7673 (ROPE) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or call 911," police said.
