A joint police operation in Timmins, Ont., has ended with the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of $236,000 in illegal drugs along with numerous firearms, including a submachine gun.
The investigation began in mid-April and involved the Timmins Police Service drug enforcement unit in conjunction with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service drug unit.
“On June 19 … the investigation culminated in the execution of three search warrants at three separate residences within the City of Timmins,” police said in a news release Friday.
“The warrants were executed at addresses on Kirby Street, Dale Avenue and Notre Dame Trailer Park by the aforementioned involved agencies, along with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police.”
Drugs that were seized include 762 grams of cocaine, 375 grams of fentanyl and 110 grams of crystal meth.
The firearms include a .22-calibre rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 30-06 rifle, two Glock 9-mm pistols, a 44-magnum revolver and a Striborg 9-mm submachine gun.

In custody are two Timmins residents, ages 38 and 41, a 22-year-old from Toronto and a 22-year-old from North York. They are charged with numerous trafficking and weapons offences.
“Several high-capacity magazines considered as prohibited devices” were also seized, police said.
