A 36-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after members of the Ignace Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a report of impaired driving earlier this month.

On Feb. 9, at about 1 a.m., officers were called to Nash Street in the Town of Ignace following a complaint involving two individuals

“As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug,” OPP said in a news release.

“The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment for further testing.”

As a result of the investigation, the accused now faces two impaired driving charges – including having a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80 – and a charge of obstructing a peace officer.

The individual was released and is scheduled to appear in court on April 2 to answer to the charges.

“The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education,” said police.

“If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 911 to report it.”
