Three arrested, $40K in drugs seized in raids in Hearst, Ont.

Three people have been charged with drug trafficking after raids by police in Hearst uncovered more than $40,000 in illegal drugs.

Ontario Provincial Police recently raided two residences and two vehicles in Hearst, seizing drugs believed to be cocaine and crystal meth.

Three people have been charged with drug trafficking and other offences as a result.

The warrants were executed simultaneously at 10 a.m. Jan. 14 by James Bay OPP with help from the officers from North Bay.

“The warrants targeted a residence on Fifteenth Street, another on Rose Street and the associated vehicles,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

“Police also seized one firearm, scales, and approximately $500 in Canadian currency,” in addition to the drugs.

Three people from Hearst, ages 26, 39 and 45, have been charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The suspects ages 26 and 45 were also charged with careless storage of a firearm.

All accused individuals have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on Feb. 26.
