Sudbury suspect charged with impaired driving near Parry Sound

An impaired driving suspect from the Greater Sudbury area tried to flee pursuing police on foot but was caught by the long arm of the law near Parry Sound.

The incident took place May 11 at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 69 when police received reports of an erratic driver in Archipelago Township.

“Officers located the vehicle that subsequently tried to evade police,” the OPP said in a news release Tuesday.

“The driver then fled from his vehicle on foot and was arrested shortly after by police.”

The 36-year-old driver from Coniston is charged with dangerous driving, impaired driving, fleeing from police and performing a stunt while driving.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 19.
