Speeding, unsafe transport stopped by northern Ont. police

Over 400 deaths on roadways in 2023 Grim numbers were released by OPP Tuesday, showing that 2023 saw the most traffic-related deaths in a single year since the early 2000's.

The driver of a commercial motor vehicle is facing multiple charges after police stopped the vehicle for speeding.

Temagami Ontario Provincial Police stopped the tractor-trailer on July 10.

“A further truck inspection revealed the following: a broken lower frame rail, a broken air reservoir tank bracket, a damaged and cracked rim and worn air lines,” the OPP said on social media.

Police added that the driver had not completed a pre-trip inspection report since April.

Both the driver and the company were charged and are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 1.

“The trailer plate and annual inspection sticker were removed,” police said.
