Three young people – two 14-year-olds and one age 15 – have been charged with theft and mischief following an incident in Sault Ste. Marie on Dec. 9.

Police received a report about three youths “misusing fire extinguishers” on Queen Street East, Sault police said in a news release Monday.

“The suspects left the area before officers arrived. Further investigation revealed the suspects had entered a business in the 200 block of Queen Street East and stolen two fire extinguishers less than 15 minutes before police were called.”

Police learned their identities and arrested the trio Dec. 10. Each is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.

All three accused were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 30.
