Dates for a two-month jury trial have been set for a 25-year-old Toronto man accused of second-degree murder and attempted murder in a stabbing spree in Sault Ste. Marie last fall.
In a court hearing Wednesday, the trial of Steven Jones was scheduled to begin Jan. 5, 2026 and last eight weeks.
That marks 28 months after he allegedly killed 22-year-old Taylor Marshall and stabbed a man on the boardwalk .

Liam Frenette was honoured in by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service for his strength and will to live after surviving the stabbing attack while sitting on a bench at the waterfront boardwalk.
The attacks that happened Sept. 7 have been called "random acts of violence" by Sault police Insp. Brent Duguay.
