A suspect from Wasaga Beach has been charged after Sault police received a report of a sleeping driver behind the wheel of a vehicle with the motor running.

Responding to a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. on July 7, police located the vehicle in the area of Queen Street East and Dacey Road.

“Officers were dispatched to the area and located the vehicle in the middle of the roadway with the driver asleep inside,” Sault police said in a news release Monday.

“Officers woke the accused and, upon speaking with them, developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. They were arrested.”

The 36-year-old has been charged with impaired driving and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29.
