A 27-year-old individual has been charged with assault with a weapon following an incident earlier this week, according to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The alleged assault occurred in the early hours on Tuesday, in the 100 block of Dell Avenue.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. after 911 operators received a report of an assault.

An investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times before throwing a utility knife at them, resulting in minor physical injuries.

“The victim and accused are known to one another,” said police.

On Friday, officers located and arrested the suspect who has been charged with assault with a weapon.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12, 2025.
