Sault firefighters respond to early morning garage fire

Fire officials in the Sault are calling the damage extensive following an early morning garage fire on Case Road.

There is extensive fire and smoke damage to a garage in the 300-block of Case Road in Sault Ste. Marie and significant exposure damage to a vehicle which was parked near after a fire early Monday morning.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service crews responded to a call about the fire at approximately 1 a.m. on Feb. 10., the city said in a news release.

“Upon arrival, there was visible smoke and flames from the detached garage structure,” said fire officials.

“Fire crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire.”

Investigators have listed the cause of the fire as “undetermined.”

“No foul play is suspected at this time,” said Aaron Gravelle, a public education officer with the fire service, in an email to CTV News.

The blaze caused extensive damage to the structure and a vehicle parked near the garage suffered exposure damage due to its proximity.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
