Last weekend, police in Sault Ste. Marie charged three people for weapons offences in two separate incidents on the same day.

In the first case April 5, two people were charged after a victim reported being shot at with a pellet gun while outside a vehicle.

Police responded around 2:30 p.m. to the incident, which took place outside a residence in the 200 block of Beverley Street.

“Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with a shattered window and damage to a door,” police said in a news release Monday.

Victim, accused know each other

“An investigation revealed the two accused shot at a victim with a pellet gun while the victim was outside the vehicle and while they drove away. The victim and accused are all known to one another. No physical injuries were reported. Both accused were arrested.”

Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence where they seized a pellet gun.

Two suspects, ages 49 and 22, were charged with careless use of a weapon, mischief and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Threw food, fired BB gun

Also on April 5, police charged a 34-year-old suspect with weapons offences, this time involving a BB gun.

Police responded around 6 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a weapon at an apartment building on Albert Street West.

“An investigation revealed the accused had thrown food items all over a victim’s door and then shot at them in the hallway with a BB gun,” police said.

“The victim and accused are known to one another. No physical injuries were reported.”

Police found the suspect and a search of their residence uncovered a pistol BB gun and a revolver BB gun.

Charges include careless use of a weapon, mischief, pointing a firearm – along with several other weapons-related offences – and violating a probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
