OPP lay impaired charge in Sturgeon Falls after traffic complaint

A 39-year-old local man faces impaired driving charges after Ontario Provincial Police received a traffic complaint in West Nipissing on Sunday morning.

OPP said officers were alerted to a possible impaired driver on William Street at about 10:20 a.m. on April 12.

“The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing,” police said in a news release.

The motorist was charged with two impaired driving offences, including operation with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

In addition to the charges, the man’s driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on May 7.
