One dead in single ATV crash in Sables-Spanish Rivers, area west of Sudbury

A 62-year-old man from London, Ont. was killed Saturday in a single-ATV crash in northern Ontario, provincial police say.

Emergency crews, including Ontario Provincial Police (OPP,) the Sables-Spanish Rivers Fire Department and Sudbury-Manitoulin District Paramedic Services were called to the scene on Sugar Lake Road in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, about 100 kilometres west of Greater Sudbury, shortly after 6 p.m. July 6.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the name of the victim nor provided any details on the cause of the crash.

"The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team," OPP said.

Earlier this year, a 64-year-old from Burlington, Ont. was also killed in a single-vehicle ATV collision in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.

Last year, 10 people, including four children, were killed in ATV crashes in a span of three months in northern Ontario.
