One person is dead following a crash involving a single all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on a northern Ontario highway Monday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Highway 627 in the Marathon area shortly before 9 a.m. July 8, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Tuesday.

The road was closed until after 5 p.m.
Police have not identified the victim or said what caused the crash.
It’s at least the fourth fatal ATV crash in the north this year following a deadly summer last year where 10 people were killed in crashes within a three-month period.

Most recently, a 62-year-old London man was killed last the weekend and a 64-year-old Burlington man was killed in May, both in single ATV crashes in Sables-Spanish Rivers west of Sudbury.
In April, a 34-year-old Sault Ste. Marie man was killed after losing control of the ATV and leaving the road.
