Dorothy Whitefish of Fort Frances, Ont., won the $250,000 top prize with Instant Bingo Multiplier, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. said Friday.

Dorothy, a community wellness worker and a mother of four, said she is excited to share the news of her first big win and her plans to celebrate.

“I was enjoying a morning cup of coffee when I played my Bingo Multiplier ticket,” Whitefish said in a news release.

“As I played, I noticed I had revealed the box. At first, I didn’t believe it. I checked my ticket a few times to make sure I’d really won. I was very excited and happy.”

“I told my husband about my win, and like me, he was in disbelief,” she added.

“After reviewing my ticket, he realized it was, in fact, a big winner, and he was thrilled for me … Winning feels awesome! It’s the best Christmas gift ever.”

With her windfall, Whitefish said she plans to buy a new vehicle, invest and take her six grandchildren to Disneyland.
