Northern Ont. woman threatened to burn down apartment building: OPP

Provincial police in Elliot Lake have arrested a local woman who allegedly threatened to burn down an apartment building in the community.

The complainant reported being threatened by a known woman on May 26, said Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a news release.

“The lady attended the complainant's apartment on Willoughby Road and threatened to cause physical harm to the complainant and a friend,” said police.

“The lady also threatened to burn down the apartment building.”

OPP subsequently issued a warrant for the woman’s arrest.

Police located and arrested the 46-year-old woman on Hillside Drive North on Saturday.

As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with two counts of uttering threats.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 11 to answer to the charges.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.
