Northern Ont. woman charged with impaired driving after going to police on an unrelated matter

Some not getting the message on impaired driving Since the start of the Festive RIDE campaign in mid-November provincial police in our region have charged 87 people with impaired driving.

A 40-year-old woman from Armour Township, Ont., has been charged with impaired driving after attending the Almaguin Highlands OPP Detachment for an unrelated investigation last week, police said in a news release.

At about 9:15 p.m. on May 29, the woman turned themselves into officers at their local provincial police detachment.

“While speaking to the driver in relation to the original investigation, officers noted signs of impairment,” said police.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, the suspect was arrested and now faces two impaired driving charges.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Court in Sundridge, Ont., at a later date to answer to the charges.

None of the accusations have been proven in court.

“(Ontario Provincial Police) remain committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers,” said police.

“If you plan on consuming drugs or alcohol, please arrange a safe ride home. If you suspect someone to be operating a motor vehicle while impaired, please call 911.”
