A traffic stop on Highway 101 leads to drug and firearm charges for the driver.
On March 17, at about 8 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 101, in Matheson.
As a result of the investigation, police seized quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
OPP estimated the street value of the drugs seized as $40,000.
Police also seized a conductive energy weapon and more than $2,000 in cash.
A 24-year-old man from Holtyre was arrested and charged with two counts of drug trafficking, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and failing to comply with an undertaking along with several driving offenses including driving while under suspension, driving without insurance and driving with cannabis readily available.
“The accused remains in custody,” OPP said in a news release.
