Volunteer firefighters in Sudbury have reached a new contract with the city.
The volunteers' union voted 83% in favour of the new three-year deal, which is retro-active to January of 2017.
The new agreement allows volunteers to train at the city-owned fire grounds in Azilda, as well as enhancements to firefighting gear and a bonus after five years of service.
The bargaining process was overshadowed by the now defunct optimization plan that proposed closing 10 fire halls, reducing the number of volunteer firefighters, and hiring 58 new full-time firefighters.
