More kids were stalked by North Bay man charged with attempted child abduction

North Bay police have laid additional criminal harassment charges against a 24-year-old man after two more youth were followed to and from school.

Police in North Bay say an investigation has revealed that the man charged with attempting to abduct a child had earlier stalked two other young people as they walked to and from school.

The 24-year-old man was already charged with trying to abduct a child May 21 while the victim was with a parent.

“The accused approached the young person and a brief altercation occurred, during which it is alleged the accused attempted to abduct the young person,” police said May 22.

“The accused then fled the area on foot. The parties were not known to each other.”

Walking to and from school

Further investigation revealed the man had been following other young people walking to and from school, North Bay police said in a news release May 29.

“The accused allegedly followed two additional young persons to and from school in the Marshall Avenue East area,” police said.

He is now charged with two counts of criminal harassment (repeatedly following) for the incidents, which took place between May 19 and May 21.

The man has been remanded into custody and will be in court June 3.
