A 42-year-old local man is facing multiple charges – including breaking-and-entering – following an early morning incident at a multi-unit residence in Sault Ste. Marie.

According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a break-and-enter at a unit in the 500 block of Albert Street West around 4:20 a.m. on Feb. 26.

“An investigation revealed the accused had broken into the unit of someone known to them while the victim was asleep, causing damage to the property and left once the victim phoned police,” authorities said in a news release.

Patrol officers located and arrested the accused shortly after the incident. The man has been charged with breaking-and-entering, mischief, failing to comply with a release order and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
