Loaded firearm, $200K in drugs seized in Cochrane

On April 27 at about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting suspected drug trafficking. Police located the suspect at a commercial property on Railway Street and placed the individual under investigative detention.

“A loaded 10mm handgun was found in the individual’s possession,” OPP said.

Following the arrest, officers conducted a search and seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin, along with a cellphone and roughly $6,000 in cash.

The estimated street value of the suspected drugs seized is approximately $200,000.

As a result, the 29-year-old has been charged with 10 offences, including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, three counts of drug trafficking, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and one additional firearm-related offence.

The accused remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on April 28.
