Highway 11 reopens after pickup-transport truck crash

Highway 11 has reopened following a crash between a pickup truck and a transport truck north of North Bay on Sunday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police reported the closure shortly before 9 a.m. on April 12.

OPP had closed Highway 11 in both directions at Sand Dam Road due to a crash “involving a pickup and a transport truck.”

“One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries,” police said in a related social media post.

OPP indicate that the on-site investigation and clean-up efforts concluded shortly after 2 p.m.

“We appreciated your patience and understanding during the on-site investigation and clean-up,” OPP said.

Lengthy closure

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., OPP advised that the closure of Highway 11 was “expected to last several hours,” as the investigation and clean-up efforts continued. The northern highway was closed between Collins Drive in North Bay and Highway 64 in Marten River.

Police have not said if any charges are pending as a result of the incident.
