GTA motorist charged with stunt driving on Hwy. 11

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a motorist from the GTA with stunt driving following a high-speed traffic stop on Highway 11 last week.

OPP said officers observed a pick-up truck overtaking multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed near Trout Creek at about 4 p.m. on Friday.

“The vehicle was confirmed to be travelling at 158 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone,” police said in a social media post.

OPP then conducted a traffic stop.

As a result, the 35-year-old from Toronto was subsequently charged with stunt driving.

Additionally, under provincial law, the motorist received an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle involved was impounded for 14 days.

Police reminder

OPP used the incident to issue broader reminders to motorists.

“Speeding endangers everyone on the road,” police wrote in the social media post.

“Please slow down and drive responsibly.”
