Four people – all from southern Ontario – have been arrested and face 45 drug and weapon-related charges after a traffic stop on Highway 69 in Carling Township, Ont., saw an estimated $100,000 in suspected cocaine and fentanyl seized.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on May 27, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped the vehicle for a sobriety check and observed cannabis readily available, police said in a news release Tuesday.

According to police, a subsequent search of the vehicle located a firearm, a high-capacity magazine, more than $1,300 in cash and large quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.
As a result, an 18-year-old from Oshawa, 19-year-olds from Ajax and Uxbridge along with a 20-year-old from Whitby faces numerous drug and weapon-related charges.
All four of the accused remain in custody pending bail hearings.
