Fed up police in northern Ont. arrest bored and drunk person making false 911 calls

An intoxicated person living on Highway 17 in Spragge, Ont., has been arrested for making repeated false 911 calls in a span of several hours Oct. 11.

In a news release Thursday, Ontario Provincial Police said the calls started at 3:30 a.m., with the second coming at 8:30 p.m. The third and final call at 11:30 p.m., prompting the arrest.

"Investigation determined the caller was intoxicated for all three 911 calls and was apparently bored," police said.

"The caller was warned each time not to call 911 for non-emergent matters."

The 48-year-old suspect has been charged with harassing communication "and was lodged at Blind River detachment until sober," the news release said.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Dec. 5.
