Crash prompts overnight road closure in Timmins

A section of a major Timmins thoroughfare was closed for several hours Saturday night into Sunday morning as police investigated a motor vehicle collision.

Timmins police announced the closure of Algonquin Boulevard East between Cedar Street and Balsam Street shortly before midnight on Saturday.

“The Timmins Police Service is currently in the process of investigating a motor vehicle collision in the area of Algonquin Boulevard and Cedar Street,” police said in a news release at about 11:47 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Algonquin Boulevard was closed “to vehicular and pedestrian traffic” between Cedar Street and Balsam Street for a few hours.

Staff Sgt. Mike Fortin confirmed the roadway reopened shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday in an email to CTV News.

No further details about the nature of the crash or any potential injuries or charges were provided by police.

CTV News reached out to the Timmins Police Service for more information about the collision. No new details were provided, but officers confirmed the incident is currently under investigation.
