Greater Sudbury Fire Service responded to a call for service at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday evening.

“I understand it was a barbeque fire in a carport that spread to the home,” said deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell in a message to CTV News.

In an update on Monday, Oshell said crews from Levack, Dowling, Chelmsford, Azilda, and Van Horne attended the scene.

“In total there were 30 fire service personnel on scene,” he said.

“Upon arrival, a carport attached to the home and the vehicle inside the carport were fully involved.”

Fire officials said the crews worked to contain the fire but spread to the home still occurred.

Crews were on site until approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday when the fire was deemed extinguished.

Three people have been displaced due to the damage to the home from the blaze, Oshell confirmed.

However, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Oshell said the fire is not considered suspicious.
