22-year-old driver charged with stunt driving on Hwy. 11

Increase in stunt driving offences OPP say it's been a busy 2023 for stunt driving charges in northeastern Ontario. Amanda Hicks reports.

A 22-year-old driver was travelling more than 150km/h on Highway 11 in Benoit Township east of Timmins, Ont., on Friday, police say.

“On May 31, 2024, a 22-year-old person was stopped and charged for stunt driving on Highway 11,” provincial police said on social media.

In addition to the charge the accused also received a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle involved was impounded for 14 days.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

“South Porcupine OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) wants to remind drivers to slow down and obey speed limits,” said police.
