The Nanaimo branch of the SPCA is warning supporters of a raffle scam making the rounds in the harbour city.

It says somebody is going around selling fake raffle tickets and pretending they’re for an SPCA fundraiser.

A photo posted to the branch’s Facebook page shows the paper ticket, dated for Nov. 1, 2016 and apparently sold at $2 for five tickets or $5 for 7 tickets.

The ticket says the fake fundraiser is to “help animals find their forever homes and save sick and injured pets.”

“They do not represent us, and this is not an actual raffle,” the branch wrote in the post.

Nanaimo SPCA is asking residents to spread word of the scam on social media.
