A boat that was under renovation in Nanaimo is being watched by security after it went up in flames Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 9:30 p.m.

They used a ladder truck to shoot water down at the 40-foot pleasure craft sitting in dry dock at Stones Marina.

Millers Pub was evacuated for more than an hour as a precaution as the massive fire burned about five metres away.

Officials say there’s nothing to suggest the fire is suspicious at this time.

Inspectors will look into the cause of the blaze on Monday.
