A 27-year-old Nanaimo man accused of stealing money designated for the BC Children’s Hospital will spend two months behind bars.

Mounties say a man was arrested on Wednesday on several outstanding warrants from Nanaimo and Victoria.

The man appeared in court and will serve 60 days in jail as a result of his existing charges.

Police say the theft of charity money from the Brooks Landing Save-On-Foods remains under investigation.

“The Nanaimo RCMP would like to thank the public for the numerous tips that came in through the day and night,” said Const. Gary O’Brien. “This and information from our officers lead to the male identified as the person believed responsible for the theft.”

Mounties say the money was not recovered.
