Jessica Lepp is CTV’s mid-island freelance reporter. Based in Nanaimo, Jess covers news in communities as far south as Shawnigan Lake and north to Tofino. With a love for the unexpected and unordinary, she started her career in broadcasting in 2011 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Late that same year Jess returned home to British Columbia. For 2.5 years she worked at CHNL in Kamloops anchoring news and producing a thrice-weekly radio talk show. In 2014 she made the switch from radio to television and began working as a reporter for CFJC TV. During her time in the Southern Interior Jess covered an array of stories including Provincial Elections, a Federal Election and many natural disasters. In April 2016 Jess moved to the Island and shortly after began working for CTV as a reporter and video journalist.
Journalism gives Jess the daily excuse to spark conversations with strangers, to learn from people’s trials, triumphs and failures, and to bring light to stories that help shape our province.
Jess always has a pair of gumboots and a backpack on standby - eagerly awaiting that next big storm or outdoor adventure. Outside of work, you’ll find her travelling with her hubby, climbing a mountain or lounging beachside with a black coffee.
