Drivers in and around Montreal should be aware that construction on the weekend will result in road closures, including in the La Fontaine Tunnel on Highway 25 and on the Charles-De Gualle Bridge on Highway 40.
Planning trips using Waze or another app is recommended.
Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel / Highway 25
- From Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., Highway 25 northbound will close between exit 90 (Route-132) on Highway 20 west in Longueuil and the Sherbrooke Street access in Montreal.
- During the same time, Highway 25 southbound will be closed between exit 4 (Souligny Avenue, downtown) in Montreal and Route-132 in Longueuil.
- Souligny Avenue eastbound will also be closed between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand.
As a result, the following will be default closures 30 minutes before:
- The Route-132 east and west ramps (exits 89-N) to Highway 25 north.
- The l’Île-Charron Street access.
- Access to Highway 25 South via Sherbrooke Street, Tellier Street and des Futailles Street.
Charles-De Gaulle Bridge / Highway 40
- From Friday at 9:30 p.m. to Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and from Sunday at 10:30 p.m. to Monday at 4 a.m., Highway 40 west will be closed between exit 96-E (A-640 east) and the Gouin Boulevard access, including the Charles-De Gaulle Bridge, in Charlemagne, Terrebonne (arr. Lachenaie) and Montreal.
As a result, the following will be closed 30 minutes before the closures:
- The Highway 640 east and west ramps.
- The Saint-Charles Road/ montée des Pionniers access.
Also, one of three lanes on the bridge will be closed from Saturday at 8:30 a.m. to Sunday at 10:30 p.m.
Samuel-De Champlain Bridge Interchange / Highway 10
- In Brossard, from Sunday at 10 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., the Route-132 east and west ramps to Highway 10 east (towards Sherbrooke) will be closed.
Bonaventure Highway (A-10) / Nuns’ Island
- The Nuns’ Island exit (5) off the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) east towards the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge is closed until the end of May.
A detour is in place.
- One lane will be open in both directions on the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) in the Clement Bridge area until December.
Réseau express métropolitain (REM)
- The REM will not run on Saturday and Sunday. There will be shuttles running.
All work may be cancelled due to weather or other operational constraints.
