Silver Alert: missing 79-year-old woman found safe, police say

Quebec provincial police have ended a Silver Alert for a missing senior after the woman was found.

The alert was issued shortly after 11 a.m. Friday for a79-year-old woman from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

At 3:48 p.m., the Sûreté du Québec lifted the alert, saying in an email to the media that she was found safe and sound in Carleton Place, Ont. by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police issue Silver Alerts when they have serious concerns for the health and safety of a missing person who has a major neurocognitive disorder.
