Armed assault leaves 43-year-old man seriously injured: suspect arrested

Montreal police (SPVM) have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the stabbing of a 43-year-old man Saturday evening in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.

The SPVM received a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. reporting an armed assault on Boyer Street near Bélanger Street.

When they arrived on the scene, officers located the victim with serious injuries to his upper body and significant blood loss.

The man was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Around 10 p.m., police arrested the suspect and transported him to a detention centre, where he was interviewed by investigators.

According to the SPVM, the accused will remain in custody until his appearance in front of a Quebec Court judge on Sunday afternoon.

Police said that the motive and relationship between the two individuals remains unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
