Here’s what’s open and closed in Montreal on the Easter holiday weekend

Good Friday is a statutory holiday in every province and territory in Canada except Quebec.

In Quebec, employers are required to give either Monday or Friday off, so depending on the workplace, a business or organization may be closed on either day. It is advised to check before heading to the location.

Here is a list of what is open and closed in Montreal for the Easter long weekend.

Closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday

• Municipal court, except in cases of persons in custody.
• Administrative offices.
• Canada Post (except in locations hosted by private businesses).

• Some banks and credit unions are closed on Friday. Opening hours vary depending on branch.

• Household waste, recycling, compost and dead leaves collection.
• The 311 line remains open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
• Schedules for arenas, pools, libraries, cultural centres and community centres vary depending on the borough.
• Eco Centres are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Monday.
• The Biodome, the Biosphère, the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium and the Planetarium are open.
• Malls and retail stores will be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
