The 4 Nations Face-Off hockey tournament is just over two weeks away, and while tickets are still available for games at the Bell Centre, some fans are expressing shock over the high prices.
Tickets for the Canada-U.S. game start at $414 for seats in the last row of the arena’s corner, while lower bowl tickets are priced above $2,000.
At the outdoor rink at Confederation Park in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, where the passion for the game is born, fans were stunned by the prices, with one even laughing off the steep costs.
Others are turning to teams like the Montreal Victoire to experience the excitement of live hockey, where ticket prices are more affordable due to the different league.
Steve Marer, a Montreal Canadiens season ticket holder, got a deal on his 4 Nations tickets. He said he’s not sure even the biggest fans will be willing to shell out at the current prices.
“I know this is a special event, and it’s not necessarily for the average person, but a lot of real diehard hockey fans want to see it,” Marer said.
Some fans told CTV News they would be watching the tournament on television from home.
CTV News contacted the NHL for comment but did not hear back.
The first game of the tournament will be Canada versus Sweden on Feb. 12.
