After a snowstorm on April 8, 2025, chaos broke out on the road and dozens of vehicles wound up in crashes.

The Honoré Mercier Bridge and the Louis-Bisson Bridge closed for hours Tuesday evening due to multi-vehicle collisions.

Quebec provincial police (SQ) say emergency services were called at 5:30 p.m. about a six-vehicle collision on Route 138 eastbound.

The Honoré Mercier Bridge was closed as emergency vehicles and tow trucks made their way on site. No one was injured, said police.

As of 8:30 p.m., the Honoré Mercier Bridge was still closed to inbound traffic.

Around 6 p.m., authorities were notified of another collision, this time on the bridge between Laval and Montreal. Quebec’s Transport Ministry said between 15 and 20 vehicles were involved.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured, but motorists on the span were asked to evacuate their vehicles. The 13 southbound was closed from the 440 to avoid more traffic near the bridge.

Investigations are ongoing, though authorities believe weather may have been a factor.
