A 34-year-old Quebec man was killed in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident in Sherbrooke on Saturday evening.

According to Sherbrooke police, the man, who was unconscious, was spotted by a witness at around 6 p.m. on the trails near Rhéaume Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and took charge of the victim. The man from Saint-Denis-de-Brompton was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A police investigation has been launched to shed light on the incident. Witnesses were interviewed and a forensic identification technician analysed the scene.

Initial reports suggest that the ATV driver lost control of his vehicle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

A party for family and friends was being held at a nearby residence.

Sherbrooke police say they are examining “all hypotheses” in this case, including alcohol, speed or a false maneuver. The vehicle has been seized for expert examination.
