MONTREAL — A 27-year-old tree trimmer lost his life on Tuesday after being electrocuted while cutting a branch on the property of a private residence in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough. Emergency responders were called to the scene around 10:25 a.m. regarding an injured worker in a cherry picker on Francis Street. According to Phuong Anh Ho Huu, spokesperson for the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), the man came into contact with a low-voltage Hydro-Québec power line. He was then transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He worked for the tree maintenance company Asplundh Canada. CNESST inspectors were dispatched to the scene to gather all information relevant to the investigation. No other injuries were reported.
