Police are asking transit riders to be vigilant as they investigate another report of a woman being sexually assaulted at a downtown Victoria bus stop.
The assault occurred on Feb. 9 at 10 p.m. at a bus stop in the 1700-block of Douglas Street, according to police.
The woman told police an unknown man approached her at the stop and sat next to her, striking up a conversation.
Just before the bus arrived, the man sexually assaulted the woman, police said. She did not require medical attention.
Investigators are now looking for witnesses who may have been in a newer-model clean white truck and saw the suspect.
He’s described as a white man between 25-35 years old standing about six-feet-tall.
He was reportedly wearing a dark hoodie pulled over his head, with only his face exposed, and had a big nose with a dark mole or mark on the right side of his face with no facial hair, according to police.
Police have yet to determine if the assault is connected to a similar incident that took place in the 1400-block of Douglas Street the morning of Feb. 8
In that incident, an 18-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at a bus stop while waiting to travel to school.
“It’s concerning,” said Victoria police spokesman Const. Matt Rutherford. “We just want people to be vigilant while at the bus stops in the downtown area and if they notice that there is anything suspicious just to give us a call.”
