Mounties in Nanaimo are searching for a man accused in a weekend bank robbery that was caught on surveillance cameras.

They say the man entered the TD Bank at Terminal Park Shopping Centre at around 3:40 p.m. Saturday and told staff he had a firearm in his pocket.

He did not produce a weapon during the robbery, according to RCMP.

After he was given an undisclosed amount of cash, the man took off on foot southbound through the mall's parking lot.

Officers were called to the scene but couldn't track down the man.

He's described as a white heavy-set man in his 40s standing 5'10" with dark hair, goatee and moustache and a deep voice.

He was seen wearing a brown jacket, dark gloves and a dark hat with a white logo.
