B.C.’s most famous one-time fast food barge may be floating its way to Victoria.

The vessel dubbed the McBarge, a former floating McDonald’s restaurant that operated during Vancouver’s Expo ’86, has been undergoing a multi-million dollar facelift.

The owner says he’s in talks with several cities including Victoria, North Vancouver and the Port of Vancouver for possible sites to relocate the vessel.

He says he should have a site locked down in a few months, but there’s no word on where the McBarge would dock if Victoria is chosen.

The new-and-improved McBarge could potentially include a restaurant or nightclub or serve as a hub for eco-tours.

It was moored in False Creek during Expo ’86 and was later moved to Burrard Inlet following complaints about its derelict condition.

Last year, the 57-metre, two-storey barge was towed to Maple Ridge where it is currently undergoing a $4.5-million upgrade.
