A man who caused a three-hour police standoff in Langford this fall has been sentenced to 15 months behind bars.

It happened in early September, when West Shore RCMP responded to reports of an agitated person on Veteran’s Memorial Parkway.

Police said the man, who was acting erratically with a gun, fired shots at one point.

Vancouver Island’s Emergency Response Team, police dogs, paramedics and crisis negotiators were all called in to help with the situation.

Michael Godolphin, 36, was eventually arrested and pleaded guilty to possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a controlled substance.

Godolphin was also ordered to give up his starter pistol, a firearm capable of shooting real ammunition.
