A man accused in the disturbing sexual assault of two college students has been found guilty of all seven charges against him.

On Monday, a jury found 44-year-old David Robert Hope guilty of breaking into a Church Street apartment in 2016 and attacking and sexually assaulting two UVic international students.

Court heard during the trial that Hope then led the pair to a nearby bank machine, where they managed to escape and flee to a nearby Starbucks.

Hope was arrested two months later in Regina and brought back to Victoria for the trial.

He was charged with one count of break and enter, two counts of unlawful confinement or imprisonment, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of robbery.

Just last week, the trial heard surprise testimony from a witness who said he had committed the crime.

A tech expert also testified that he discovered multiple searches of media reports about the attack on a phone Hope used in the days after it happened.

Hope will appear in court Wednesday to fix a date for his sentencing hearing.
