A 23-year-old man linked to a January raid on a Victoria pot dispensary has been charged with possession.

Omar Manji, a director of Remedy Medicinals Dispensary, faces two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police executed a search warrant at the Fisgard Street dispensary on Jan. 25, seizing more than 300 pieces of evidence including more than 42 kilograms of marijuana, $5,600 in cash, bear spray and a replica firearm.

The search was related to 30 pounds of pot being discovered on a commercial flight earlier in January.

Investigators say the dispensary was not licensed by Health Canada.

Police in Victoria have taken a hands-off approach when it comes to storefront dispensaries, as long as they aren’t involved in organized crime, disruptions in the community or sales to youth.
