London couple supports military efforts to force regime change in Iran

As strikes continue in Iran, there is celebration amongst many Iranian-Canadians living in London.

For them, the actions are viewed as the only path to freedom for their family, friends, and fellow citizens.

A London couple, who arrived in Canada 15 years ago from Iran, is among them.

“People don’t look at this as an intervention,” said Ehsan Zareei, while sitting beside his wife Besat Zardosht. He added, “People don’t look at the missiles coming down from the skies as a threat. This is a liberation for them!”

The pair have been fortunate to reach loved ones over the past few days.

They told CTV News London that most remain in hiding, awaiting word that it is safe to go outside into the streets to reclaim their nation.

Zardosht said they are still willing to take risks to share their message in support of the strikes.

“(They) just want us to tell the world that this is what we want, and they’re willing to risk their lives to get to this freedom.”

The pair, who have organized anti-Iranian regime rallies in London for several years, believe the attacks will not lead to a prolonged conflict or civil war, as it did in Iraq, Libya or Syria.

Instead, they believe Iran will emerge unified, given its long history as a nation before the 1979 revolution.

“This path that we are going. I am pretty sure we are going to go towards freedom and to a free and secular democracy,” said Zardosht.

Both support the return of the exiled Crown Prince of Iran to oversee the transition.

“They have been calling unified for one name. And the name is Crown Prince Pahlavi,” said Zareei, who added the couple joins the chorus of those praising the actions of the USA and Israel.

“People will, forever, be grateful for President Trump and for Prime Minister Netanyahu for their help.”

The couple thanks Londoners for showing their support, but in the same breath, asks for them to wait for a change of regime before they consider reaching for their wallets.

“On day first, after the regime’s collapse, we would love to see your donations arrive, because a lot of people are going to need that,” confirmed Zareei.
